INFINITY TRAVELS SCAM
On Thursday, the 15th of May I received the news my friend had passed away when I was in Singapore.
On the next day I decided to buy a ticket to Amsterdam to meet with his partne. It’s not to get anyone’s compassion. It’s to give perspective about the facts.
I bought a ticket via the KLM website for the next day. Only to realise that I had make a “mistake”:
- I selected *17th JUNE*
- instead of the *17th MAY*
That's one month after. I recall punching my chest with my fist so hard, because I felt really stupid.
It was very late night in Singapore on the 16th, after office hours in Europe. So I could not reach anyone from the Dutch office. I talked to a couple of people from the US but they could not help me. Until I found this number online:
The information online is from AA.COM - the American Airlines website with a score of 100:
I called them and asked if I could get a refund for my flight. They said I could but u would have to pay a fee of 250 euros. That even calling during the 24 hours, I had to pay for the fee. That the alternative would be to exchange the ticket. If they wanted to exchange that I would not get any fees.
Remember I was already in a very vulnerable position. I had made a mistake, there was no one from KLM that could help me. I had to come to Amsterdam and I had to resolve the ticket issue within 24 hours. I didn’t want to trust him, I didn’t like to where the conversation was going, and I admit exposing myself in ways that could be even more harming. But I did it anyway. Because at that point there was nothing else I could do.
He then told me that even though I didn’t have to pay for the fee, the flight his found was “more expensive” in his words. There was a ticket from Qatar to Amsterdam I could take, that costed around 900 euros.
I did not want to take this flight. I wanted time to think and process my thoughts. But that seemed like my best shot. To trust him.
So he initiated the process, saying he was going to purchase my ticket. At this point they are sending me WhatsApp messages from multiple phones:
Telling me via the phone I don’t have to worry because I could contact them directly on their private phones. This was one of the reasons mails he sent me while we were on the phone, asking me for my credit card number, including the safe codes, my passport picture and the confirmation codes I would receive.
